Based on general recommendations, the most important vitamins and minerals for men are:

 

  • B vitamins. Important for energy production, nervous system, cognitive function, and stress management.

  • Vitamin D. Beneficial not only for bone health but also for testosterone levels, the immune system, and mood. Most men are deficient in it, so it is worth routinely checking vitamin D levels in the blood and supplementing if necessary.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids. Necessary for the cardiovascular system, joints, and brain function.

  • Magnesium. Helps relaxation, reduces muscle tension, stress, improves sleep, and can be beneficial for heart health and muscle function.

Which vitamins are best for women?

For women, various vitamins are often needed at an earlier age than for men. This is influenced by hormonal fluctuations, the menstrual cycle, pregnancy, breastfeeding, menopause, and a higher risk of losing certain substances. The need for food supplements is very individual for each woman, so decisions about their use are best made after tests and consultation with a doctor.

 

The most important minerals and vitamins for women, according to general recommendations:

 

  • Folic acid (vitamin B9). Important when planning pregnancy and during it, as it helps reduce the risk of fetal malformations. It also participates in hematopoiesis and nervous system activities.

  • Vitamins B6 and B12. Support energy, normal nervous system, improve mood. Especially useful for PMS or emotional imbalance.

  • Vitamin D. Important for bones, the immune system, and hormonal balance. Most women are deficient in it, especially during the autumn-winter season.

  • Omega-3 fatty acids. Contribute to hormonal balance, skin, and heart health. They can also alleviate PMS or menopausal symptoms.

  • Magnesium. Helps with tension, nervousness, muscle spasms, PMS, or sleep disorders. Magnesium is also important for bone health and heart function.

 

It is also worth considering calcium (especially for older women or during menopause, when estrogen levels decrease and the risk of osteoporosis increases), zinc (supports good skin, hair, and nail condition and strengthens immunity), iodine (important for thyroid function, especially during pregnancy or for women who restrict salt intake or do not eat seafood) and iron (deficiency can cause fatigue, weakness, hair loss). The market is full of various food supplements, so choosing truly high-quality ones often becomes difficult. You can check this information on the official websites of national institutions (FDA, EFSA).


Avoid suspiciously cheap offers, as very large discounts may mean that quality of raw materials or production is being compromised.
